Sightseeing bus tour in Guilin
We flew to Guilin to enjoy our Christmas holiday yesterday. It was the Christmas eve, quite cold, not so much decorations and atmophere of Christmas celebration here. Well, Guilin is a typical Chinese city, we heard that where was two churches in Guilin and its surrounding counties, which has a population of 4.7 million people.
Recommended by someone’s blog, we took the local “sightseeing bus”, it was Sightseeing bus No. 1, we found the bus sign in front of the NikoNikodo Department store, on the most busy avenue and shopping area in downtown. On the sign, the station we boarded was: “Central Square”.

The bus was double-decked, clean and new, passing lots of must-go attractions in the city, and a bus attendent was introducing something to passengers, in Chinese…
The route we were going was TianErTang/Railway Station/Long Distance Bus Terminal/Nanmen Bridge/Elephant Hill/Lijiang Theatre/Liberation Bridge/Fubo Hill/Fengbei Road/Dongzheng Road/Tiefu Road/Baoxian Bridge/Yiwu Road/Guilin Gallery/Central Square/Yang Bridge/Xicheng Road.
Elephant Hill
We got off the bus at Elephant Hill, climbed the summit of the hill, saw a pagoda named Puxian Pagoda. Built in the Ming dynasty (1368-1644), the pagoda looks like the handle of a sword.
Fubo Hill
The second stop was the Fubo Hill, visited the Thousand-Buddha Cave. There were 250 Buddhist statues and more than 100 carved inscriptions of various periods. Most of the statues were works of Tang and Song dynasties.
The bus attendent suggested us to see the inner lakes at Baoxian Bridge, we walk around the Gui Lake, Banyan Lake and Fir Lake for 1 hour, it was a nice stop.
