Minosa Cafe

About 10 steps from West Street, by the side of Cassia Stream (Guihuaxi), you can easily find the Cafe Minosa, where you’ll find two kinds of Aussie meat pies — beef, or chicken with vegetables and a white sauce. Excellent, and only 30-35 yuan (US$4-5).  One of the other people in our party ordered the spaghetti carbonara, which was proclaimed delicious, and the spaghetti bolognese (with tomato sauce and ground beef) was very good.

Yuan and her friend Jessie run this small cafe, after being barraged in China by chinese food western people often have a strong craving for what they are used to eating at home.  Yuan has worked as a local tour guide in Yangshuo since she is 16, she defintely knew this, that was why they opened this cafeterria, which is one of the palces that provides this type of food.

Our service is reasonably fast and very friendly, even though sometimes our waitresses might misunderstood your order at first, we will ask if you could speak more slowly. It’s a Chinese tradition that the server reads back the orders before going to the kitchen, so you’ll help us out if you listen.

Recommend you to try our pizza, sauteed garlic seasonal veggies, plus our vegetarian noodle soup, or their pizza.

Cafe Minosa is one of the better places to have a bottle of imported wine along with dinner when you’re craving for some comfort food (you just can’t do the Liquan beer everyday, which by the way only has some 2% alcohol).

We have reasonable price and not-so-over-the-top decoration. Easy-going and friendly staff, perhaps a little relaxed though (to the point of being a little too oblivious sometimes).
